Hello and happy Sunday. Easter Sunday, indeed.
And welcome to my very first Sunday Glimmers email - this is the beginning of a special email series, for paid subscribers.
Life is tough - I never try to hide that in any of my writing. And as you know by now, I’m always looking for the glimmers of hope and inspiration.
Each Sunday, I’ll share a few of my glimmers - the things that have got me through the week and helped me look at life the way life should be looked at, I guess.
These might be conversations, movies, meetings, life lessons, podcasts, books, or a really amazing meal. Who knows.
What I do know is that I’ll be sharing tips and recommendations for things that will hopefully help or uplift you too.
And of course I would LOVE it if you shared your own glimmers in the comments.
Oh and as this is the first - I’d really like to know if you value this as a paid subscriber? Does it feel like something you’ll get value from? That’s really important for me to know. Do say.

Author Jennie Godfrey on Bestsellers Podcast
I love listening to interviews with authors and I’m going to guess you might do too. I have been following the podcast Bestsellers for a while now. It’s a slow grower, I think, in terms of its audience but it’s mostly very good.
I’m slightly in the doldrums with my fiction writing at the moment (urgh, I know, it’s boring but I just like to be honest).
When I’m feeling like that, I hungrily hoover up these author interviews for inspiration and this one, with Jennie Godfrey, author of The List of Suspicious Things, was ace. Jennie made my heart sing a bit.
She’s energetic and excited about her work.
She didn’t get to work on her book until she was 49 and that always gives me hope.
She talked properly about how long it took, particularly the year-long editing.
She DID admit that she had a lucky break (it will of course have been talent) and got an agent relatively easily and a book deal very quickly but she pointed out that is not the norm.
She talked about the importance of getting that first draft down and trying not to be pained over writing each sentence perfectly - and I needed to hear that (I hear it all the time but I always need to hear it).
I think it’s a lovely listen for readers and writers - Jennie is warm and interesting with lots of great insight into the life of a writer.
I’ve just started The List of Suspicious Things and am loving it…
